Confidence & Communication for Women
During this unprecedented time, no one has been more impacted than women.
Whether you are a parent/caregiver, who has had to make the decision to leave the workplace to care for a loved one due to limited care/school options, or your current career field has been eliminated due to demand - women have had a tough year!
However, one thing remains true - This is our new normal!
I don't believe work or business as we knew it would ever be the same again! In fact, many companies have been forced to create flexible policies as an option to limit the potential spread of Covid-19, and have learned that "maybe" the old idea of "the office" is not necessary after all.
I have also had a profound year in my business.
During the pandemic, we have
- Landed a major book deal (Look out Winter 2021! We're coming!)
- Booked the most virtual corporate speaking gigs in my career, including Working Mother Media, Timberland, SXSW and much more.
- Had a small feature in my DREAM publication - The Wall Street Journal.
- Scheduled a record shattering amount of high level strategy sessions.
- Appeared virtually on a few talk shows.
- Developed new partnerships to expand our company in 2022!
- And I managed to have a few viral hits on my new TikTok channel (Follow me @carolsankar)

Wanna know my secret?? I ASK for what I deserve -yes, during a pandemic!
I don't have some "magic" list of fancy templates that helped me to have a record-shattering year during a global pandemic, I just used my ability to communicate my value, and watched doors open, while the world panicked!
As women, we are naturally programmed to believe we need limitless preparation and scripts for meetings, new career opportunities, negotiations, and conversations with decision makers.
Although I am a proud feminist, the one question that easily triggers me is "What should I say if .....?"
And, it is a proven fact that has been researched repeatedly that women only apply for roles and opportunities where they feel 100% qualified, unlike men, who will apply with 60% of the required criteria.
It all comes down to communication!
More importantly, you must know the difference between what you are worth and what you deserve!
When you feel confident about your ability to communicate effectively, you would never need another script again!
In fact, most of my keynote talks that I have delivered in front an audience of tens-of-thousands have been unscripted. I usually have an idea of the takeaways I have in mind for the audience, and I allow the energy of the crowd to help me deliver my talk. It has helped me to sound conversational, rather than choreographed, and event coordinators are incentivized to invest more for quality talent.
